Traveling to Seoul
I am very excited. Today I am venturing off to a place I know very little about to try and find friends and partners for this project. The trip has been organised by Visiting Arts and I am one of five British delegates including Jude Kelly, Artistic Director of the South Bank Centre. I am in illustrious company. I met with several Korean Festival Dirctors when at the Australian Performing Arts Market in February this year and one said to me that the South Koreans are the 'Irish of Asia'. I am expecting good Crack and plenty of chat based on that comment. There has been a big push by the Korean government to promote and export Korean Culture to the world. In 2007 a wonderful company, the Sadari Movement Laboratory won a Total Theatre Award for their staging of Woyzeck at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which went on to play at the 2008 London International Mime Festival. I am sure I will meet some extraordinary people, learn about our cultural differences and see some great art.
