I ask myself this often, as a resident foreigner. I was born in London but often feel alien because I grew up abroad with armies of ancestors traversing the globe over generations. And this is common – so why do we cling to monocultural notions of cultural identity?
This month there is a new government in the not so united UK, the Euro is wobbly and there are immense pressures on the systems that form our sense of society.
So what role does theatre play? If ‘all the world’s a stage’ and we need the world to change, what does this mean for our stages?
