EU funding confirmed for English/French collaboration
European Funding confirmed to explore intercultural relations between Pas de Calais and Kent. BiDiNG TiME is part of a programme of work hosted by Kent County Council working with Pas de Calais, focused on the Olympic torch relay and related cultural projects. The five day Tall Ship Voyage for 40 young people that brought the Olympic Flame into Dover.for evening celebrations on 18th July included a cultural programme alongside the sailing programme and the BiDiNG TiME story was shared with the young people. The theme song 'My Time' formed a focus for the group and renditions were performed in Bologne on 16th July and in Dover on 18th July. Artists Kiell Bynoe-Smith and Emily Parraudeau and reporter/presenter Lisa Macfarlane travelled on board and worked with the young people on this cultural exchange.
This work will continue in December when the French youth return to Dover for further workshops and parts of the BiDiNG TiME text are translated into French.
